Texas A&M Forest Service officials said the fire remained within the containment lines after rain on Tuesday. Its cause remains unclear.

The wildfire spread rapidly on Sunday. Within an hour of being reported shortly before 2 p.m., it had grown to 50 acres. By the evening, it had consumed 400 acres and was only 20% contained. But the blaze remained that size through Monday morning.
