The US diplomatic missions in India have announced the availability of an additional 250,000 visa appointments for Indian travelers, including tourists, skilled professionals, and students.

The move comes at a time when more than 1.2 million Indians have travelled to the US so far during 2024, a 35% increase over the same period in 2023, the US embassy said

The US has once again issued a record number of student visas in India this year, exceeding last year's figure of over 1.4 lakh. All first-time student applicants secured appointments at one of five consular sections in India.

These new slots will help thousands of Indian applicants take timely interviews, facilitating the travel which is the backbone of the people-to-people ties that underpin the US-India relationship.
