Austin real estate developer Nate Paul began serving a 10-day jail sentence for contempt of court Thursday night in connection with a civil lawsuit that is unrelated to his criminal indictment accusing him of financial crimes.

Nate Paul surrendered himself to the Travis County Sheriff's Office to begin a 10-day jail sentence for criminal contempt of court, after being found guilty of perjury and violating an injunction in a lawsuit against a charity.

The embattled investor has been fighting the sentence but was ordered to report to jail in Austin related to a dispute with the Mitte Foundation.

Paul, an associate of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, will serve 10 days in the Travis County Jail starting on Nov. 15.
