Mumbai: Sanjay Kumar Verma was named as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra , on Tuesday, November 5. A 1990-batch IPS officer, Verma will succeed Rashmi Shukla. Verma, currently serves as Director General of Legal and Technical.

Acting on the opposition's allegations of phone-tapping against her, Shukla was removed by the poll body from her current post.
