It is very likely that there’s little Penn State could have done to help its playoff case in the eyes of the College Football Playoff selection committee Saturday evening. The Nittany Lions were four score favorites over a Purdue team that is sitting at the bottom of the Big Ten, and playing like one of the worst teams in college football.

Penn State football moved up, once again, in the national rankings. The Nittany Lions (9-1 overall, 6-1 Big Ten) elevated another spot in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, released Sunday. The Lions' jump came as a combination of their 49-10 demolition of the lowly Purdue Boilermakers and Tennessee's defeat at Georgia.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are now the No. 4 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll. With their second consecutive dominant win, Penn State and quarterback Drew Allar looked like a College Football Playoff team after beating Purdue 49-10.
