The last county-wide Democratic office in Jefferson County fell to the Republicans as the GOP swept Tuesday’s election locally.

Jonathon Simpson won re-election to the Southwestern school board, carrying that ballot by 19 votes over Tina Hardy for the seat representing Republican Township.

For Jefferson County Republicans, there wasn’t any doubt about Tuesday's election outcome since nearly all of the offices were uncontested with no Democratic opponents.
